The recognition was announced by the National High-Tech Enterprise Recognition Management Leading Group Office in its notice dated 26 December 2025, concerning the first batch of high-tech enterprises recognised by the Jiangsu Provincial Recognition Authority in 2025.

Appleton’s High-Tech Enterprise Certificate was issued on 18 November 2025, under Certificate No. GR202532004938, with a validity period of three years.

The National High-Tech Enterprise programme is one of China’s key initiatives for encouraging technological advancement and industrial innovation. The recognition evaluates companies across several areas, including independent intellectual property rights, research and development capabilities, commercialisation of technological achievements, R&D management and business growth.

Specialising in Architectural Channel Glass Manufacturing

Founded in 2006, Appleton Specialty Glass (Taicang) Limited is a specialised manufacturer focusing on the research, development and production of architectural U-profiled glass, also known as channel glass.

Originally established as Pilkington Solar (Taicang) Limited, a wholly foreign-owned enterprise of the UK-based Pilkington Group in China, Appleton has inherited a strong technical foundation and manufacturing experience in glass production.

Drawing on the technical expertise introduced from Pilkington’s German operations, the company has developed an annual production capacity of 10,000 tonnes of architectural U-profiled glass.

Under its Uniprof™ brand, Appleton offers a comprehensive range of architectural channel glass products, including low-iron glass, standard clear glass, tempered channel glass, wired glass, sandblasted glass, Low-E coated glass, ceramic frit glass and laminated channel glass.

In 2025, Appleton participated as one of the principal drafting organisations in the revision of China’s industry standard JC/T 867-2025, Architectural U Profiled Glass, which came into effect on 1 November 2025.

Drawing upon its long-standing technical cooperation with European channel glass manufacturers and extensive experience in international markets, Appleton contributed technical expertise and European manufacturing experience to the standard revision process.

The company has also maintained a long-term focus on European channel glass requirements, particularly EN 572-7, the European standard relating to channel-shaped glass products.

Appleton is among the Chinese channel glass manufacturers capable of producing products that meet the requirements of both the Chinese industry standard JC/T 867-2025 and the relevant European EN 572-7 standard.
